Maguire MPA Color Pump

MPA Color Pump

The MPA – the original Liquid Peristaltic Pump from Maguire.

  • Patented, simple and easy to use
  • Peristaltic action – no parts to clean
  • Accurate and precise dosing of liquids

MPA – Key Components

Accurately meter precise amounts of liquid color into the main flow of natural material directly above the throat of your process machine. Metering is via by the compression and release of a flexible pumping tube by the 6 roller Peristaltic head of the MPA pump.

Positive Displacement Pump

  • Series MPA pumps are true positive displacement pumps.
  • No seals, check valves or clearances –no internal leakage.
  • Self-priming plus passes any air bubbles in the liquid without loss of prime.

Automatic Speed Control

  • The MPA use automatic speed control to assure self-adjusting accuracy.
  • The pump can be used for both injection molding and extrusion.

Three Tubing Sizes Available

  • Various tubing diameters and assemblies are available to provide a wide range of outputs.

Ideal for Most Liquid Color Applications

  • MPA Pumps are designed to meter at the very low rates typical of liquid coloring applications.
  • High rate liquid applications may be better served by our Model MPA-3-HO (3-5 gallons/hour) or Model MDA Drum Pump (up to 45 gallons/hour).

6-Roller Pump Head

  • 6-roller pump with easy access for feeding in the tube provides consistent compression and effective operation.
  • Tube compression is consistent by design of the roller head housing.
  • Low maintenance – no bearings, dowel pins do not wear out, plus clear viewing window allows operators to easily check operation.

MPA – How it Works

Control Principal

  • The Digital Controller maintains precise speed regulation and metering control to ensure absolute accuracy.
  • Metering rate is directly related to motor shaft rotation, accuracy is consistent by precisely controlling drive motor rotation.

Control Setup

  • A digital counter allows for easy entry of the required settings.
  • A simple formula is used based on percent of color required, a predetermined metering rate, and total shot weight in grams (or pounds per hour for extrusion applications).

Hardware Control

  • The controller can manage a small fraction of a gram of color being carefully measured.
  • The controller contains a DC motor with variable speed control.
  • Standard MPA separate with a heavy-duty gearbox with a reduction ratio of 53:1, providing a wide dosing range.

Easy Maintenance and Cleaning

Maintenance

  • No part will wear out or need replacing. Occasional cleaning may be necessary.
  • Pump tubes must be replaced periodically. Typical tube life is 1 to 6 months.

Inserting Tube

  • The tube is laid into the slot across the top of the pump head.
  • With rollers turning, the tube is automatically fed into the peristaltic roller housing.

Cleaning

  • Clean with soap and water. Disassembly is easy and parts are large.
  • The unit must be free of liquid color contamination to operate properly.
