Maguire introduced the first peristaltic pump for metering liquid color in 1977 and is now the world’s largest supplier of liquid color pumps.

Maguire progressive cavity drum pumps meter colors from 30- or 55-gal. (135- to 230-liter) drums in a smooth, non-pulsating action, achieving pressures of 200 to 300 psi (1380 to 2070 kPa).

Controller 

• The controller ensures a high degree of metering accuracy by sensing variations in screw movement during the injection molding cycle.
• Adjust metering rate to maintain uniform color delivery.

Progressive Cavity Pump 

• The progressive cavity drum pump meters liquid color by positive displacement.

Automatic Speed Control

• Accuracy is achieved by controlling the exact degree of rotation of the drive motor, delivering precision coloring during each cycle.

Positive Displacement

• The pump consists of a single helix steel screw (rotor).
• As the rotor rotates, liquid is drawn into one end, expelling it out the other end, producing a positive displacement pumping action.

Injection Molding

• Precise metering.
• Dosing uniformly over the entire screw return cycle.
• When preset count is reached, the motor automatically switches off to ensure no excess colorant is metered.
• Motor speed is precisely held regardless of changing torque requirements.

Extrusion Following Mode

• The drum pump follows the speed of the extruder automatically.
• Accurate dosing.
• Changes to the extruder are reflected in the output of the drum pump.
• A tachometer provides AC or DC voltage output from the extruder to the pump to enable the drum pump to match the extruder as speed ramp up or down.
